Les Contamines is in the heart of the Mont Blanc region and is dominated by the Dome de Miage glacier to the East
and Mont Joli and the pasture land of Col du Joly in the West. Les Contamines is a traditional Savoyarde village which
has retained its natural charm, friendliness and ambience.

Winter

Les
Contamines has an excellent snow record from December through to April. (Vehicles are required to carry snow chains in Les Contamines!) The 120km superb
well-groomed pistes are excellent for all grades. Beginners, intermediates and mixed ability parties are particularly well
catered for.
There are some exciting steeper slopes for the adventurous, lots of off piste and three X zones.
One boarder park is a championship course, whilst the second is in the main village and is floodlit (snow permitting). The
ski area is well served by snow making facilities. There are many English speaking instructors. The ski bus stop is 300m from
the chalet. The Ski du Fond track is also at this point, 300 metres from the chalet.
Les Contamines now hosts several championship
races each year including Boarder Cross, Skier Cross.The Ski du Fond courses also hosts championship rounds, including biathlon. The ski du fond is floodlit
one evening each week (snow permitting).
Other winter activities include ice climbing, ice skating, dog sledding
and snow rackets.
St Gervais (5 minutes drive or use the navette) offers a further 250 kms of
skiing and is connected to Megeve. A lift pass covering both Les Contamines and Megeve is available.
Chamonix
is about 25 minutes drive. It has spectacular scenery including Mont Blanc and some tremendous, often steep, skiing, plus
the world famous Vallee Blanche off piste route. Guiding can be arranged.

Les
Contamines is on the Tour de Mont Blanc GR5 walking route and is an excellent base for an active or quiet holiday. There are
many varied, marked walks to suit all abilities. "La Reserve Naturelle" starts at the rear of the chalet, where a
number of walks commence including, the Tre-la-Tete glacier and Dome du Miage.
In July, the village hosts
a round of the French International Open Gaz tennis championship - 2kms from the chalet. Local activities include mountaineering, climbing, mountain biking,
paragliding, dry ski jump slope, circus school, adventure park, horse riding, archery, football, tennis. Instruction is available
for most of these activities. Other family activities include playgrounds, crazy golf, and a boating lake, swimming lake with
beach, plus an artificial ski jump.
St Gervais (10 minutes drive) offers a superb outdoor swimming pool with bar and restaurant,
international ice skating rink and childrens' playground. In the Arve valley (20 min drive) are many activities including
lake with beach, swimming, challenging golf courses, white water rafting and more.
